Mark Nelon attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.  While at Texas A&M, Mark was a member of the Corps of Cadets, where he attained the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel his senior year as a member of Corps Staff.  Upon graduation with a BS in electrical engineering, he accepted a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

Following his four plus years active duty during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Mark attended law school at the University of Houston where he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.  After getting his law license he began practicing law in Fort Worth, Texas.  While in private practice, Mark joined the Marine Corps Reserve to continue serving his country.

Mark left private practice to become a prosecutor in Guadalupe County, Texas.  He prosecuted both adult and juvenile cases until he again opened a private practice focusing on criminal defense.  Mark continued to represent those arrested in Texas until he was activated by the military to serve a tour of duty in Iraq.  While active, Mark served with the First and Forth Marine Divisions during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Upon deactivation from the military, Mark returned to DFW and he joined the Fort Worth office of the Dunham Law Firm.  Mark currently serves as the supervising attorney over the criminal defense section in the Fort Worth office.

Since receiving his law license, Mark has tried numerous felony and misdemeanor cases.  In 2009, Mark has tried two felonies and ten plus misdemeanor cases to both the court and jury.  Mark has received numerous not guilty verdicts, including a felony DWI and a misdemeanor DWI where there was a blood test of 0.13.

Mark continues to serve his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.  He is currently assigned to United States Central Command, Tampa Florida as Deputy Director, Current Operations, J6.
